What Our Scholars Say
"Glitter Sisters has created a safe environment within our school. Having this safe environment has allowed our women of color to create as well as maintain healthy external and internal relationships. By doing this, we [help inspire] women who are confident in themselves and the work they are doing inside and outside of school.
When women are confident, we tend to radiate energy that others around us feed off of, which is essential in high school where we typically grow and learn. Although high school can tend to create divides between women, Glitter Sisters has brought a diverse group of amazing women together and furthered our intellectual curiosity, allowing us to find out our passions and how we want to contribute to and fix the society we are a part of."

"The Glitter Sisters provided me with exceptional service and support. We were able to connect with Ms. Cush on a different level. When I got out of line, she didn't just punish me. She listened, and really tried to understand—if you get in trouble she understands why things happen, [takes time to] understand before she takes action.
I like helping people or social work. It could be fun to work with kids my age, to say to them, ‘I’ve been in your position,’ that way I could give younger girls a sense of hope.
I chose Glitter Sisters because I learned a lot about how to be a solid leader before my college journey and it gave me a sense of hope."

"Principal Cush connects more with us and is hands on with the students.
Our Glitter Sisters t-shirts say ‘Glow and grow.’ We used to have lot of fights; now it’s peaceful. We’re growing and starting to see beautiful things happening, I am seeing a change in everyone.
Glow and grow means you can mature, grow up, but still look the way you want to without feeling you have to dress a certain way and conform to what society says. We can be ourselves and support each other in the process.”
